If you are logged into SmartEncrypt and are unable to open encrypted PDF files using a web browser such as Chrome or Fire Fox, is likely due to the way some browsers interact with files.

To allow encrypted PDF files to be opened by a web browser, you can re-associate PDF file with Microsoft Edge or install Adobe PDF Reader or any standalone PDF reader and these will open automatically.
